Your Questions Answered

Below you’ll find answers to some of the more common questions I’ve received. Read on to learn more about my services and what I’ve done to help my clients in pursuit of their goals. If you feel like you didn’t find the answer you were looking for, feel free to contact me for more information. I’m always happy to hear from people who are interested in the therapeutic counseling process.

Do you Accept Insurance?

Rooted Counseling & Consultation, LLC currently in the process applying to be able to accept the following medical insurances:  Medicaid plans (UHC, LHCC, Aetna, Amerihealth, & Healthy Blue), Humana, UHC commercial, Blue Cross Blue Shield of LA, Vantage, Cigna, and Aetna Commercial. For private pay, fee for individual therapy is currently $120.00 per hour. Fees for couple therapy is currently $130, and family therapy is currently $160.00.  For other Rates, got to the Rates for Services page.

Cancellation Policy

Emergencies come up and things happen. In the event you need to cancel your appointment, please notify the office within 24 hours. In the event the appointment is not canceled or rescheduled within 24 hours, or you do not show, you will be charged half price of the session (Example: Individual Session is $120, half of $120 is $60).

Forms of Payment

Accepted forms of payment are cash and major credit cards. Checks will not be accepted. Form of payment is requested before the beginning of the therapy session. 

What Happens If I cannot afford the full price of the session? 

A fee scale will be provided to individuals who are not able to afford the full price of the therapy session. Verification of income will be requested to determine the fee of the session.

WHAT IS A CRISIS AND WHAT HAPPENS IF ME OR MY CHILD IS IN A CRISIS? 

A crisis is an emotionally significant event that affects an individual. Examples: Car accidents, witnessing a death, love one dying, being abused, causing harm to self or others, etc. In the event you or your child is experiencing a crisis, dial 911 and notify the authorities. If you or your child is suicidal or homicidal, call 911 or go to the nearest hospital. Also, you can contact OLOL COPE team at 225 765 8900, and Baton Rouge General ER Mid-City or Bluebonnet.

HOW LONG ARE THE THERAPY SESSIONS? 

Therapy sessions are 45 to 50 minutes. The first or last 10 to 15 minutes of the session will involve communication with the parent, if the client is a child or adolescent. Will also include scheduling of the next session. Please be advised that sessions sometimes are extended due to the severity of the topic being discussed. If the session run over a significant amount of time, client or parent will be responsible for additional charges based on the amount of time over on session.

Will what I discuss remain confidential?

Counseling is a safe haven, a sacred place, where you can be you and express yourself. Rooted Counseling & Consultation, LLC will protect you and your information through HIPPA and confidentiality. Your information will not be disclosed without your permission. However, there are exceptions to confidentiality, in which sometimes it may be broken. Confidentiality may be broken if you or your child is being abused, if you or your child is suicidal or engaging in self -harm behaviors, causing harm to someone else, and threaten to harm someone else.

WHAT BENEFITS DO GROUP THERAPY OFFER?

There are a number of benefits that participants experience when they take an active role in group therapy sessions. These include:

  • Bonding with other members of the group, forming relationships that can last long into recovery

  • Guidance and tips on how to handle – and how not to handle – specific situations in recovery

  • A safe place to vent and share concerns

  • The opportunity to listen to the needs of others and offer support

  • A safe place to practice positive communication and manage conflict

HOW EFFECTIVE IS THERAPY FOR MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL PROBLEMS, AND DOES IT ALWAYS WORK?

Sometimes it does, and sometimes it doesn't. It primarily depends on you and the therapist. It is important to share your concerns in a serious, sincere, and open manner. Only if you are completely honest and open can you expect to receive the best support and advice.
